EASY RETURNS, RELAXED EXCHANGES & REAL SIZING HELP
That’s a fairly bold little statement.
Let me clarify by adding in numbers, at equestrian events. Still too bold?
Let me clarify even further by adding excepting perhaps rodeo and cattle events.
As horse owners, women outnumber men 5 to 1 in Australia. Actually, according to research it’s a little more than that. Women represent 83% (Smyth and Dagley, 2015 ). Let’s make a presumption a good portion of those horse owners ride their horses.
Probably neither you nor I needed a research paper to tell us what a visit to any local equestrian event or horse riding clinic on any given weekend would – regardless of whether it be anything from Classical Dressage through to Natural Horsemanship. You may even notice that the majority of those women are … women of age (?), let’s say, women over 40.
If we can agree that most of these horsewomen are non-competitive riders and are ‘of age’, the question is, ‘what are they looking for in equestrian wear?’ Probably not jodhpurs, however they probably find themselves in jodhpurs of some description, or jeans because of the lack of an alternative.
I’ll go one step further and say, she’s not looking for ‘fashion’ either.
I’d suggest that she already knows exactly who she is (and who she isn’t), and that includes knowing her own style. She’s done with fashion, and let’s face it, most equestrian wear is designed with women somewhat younger in mind. Flick through any magazine and you’ll see it for yourself.

I know from research (and my own experience) that first and foremost she’s looking for functional riding pants, without compromising on style or comfort. Riding pants that are flattering and can be worn to her own personal style. And she wants quality.
By now, she’s done keeping up with trends and her focus is on her horsemanship and riding.
She also wants practicality. She wants to dress for the day and be dressed for the day, not have to change into jodhpurs to ride and change out of them to go to the shops or meet her friends for coffee.
Am I speaking your language? Could this be you?
I have an alternative for you. Not jeans, not jodhpurs, but purpose-built riding pants, with all the features of a quality jodhpur, all the style of a fine pair of jeans and all the comfort of riding tights.

What’s the best horse riding pants for women over 40?
It’s a bootleg jodhpur and here’s my advice on styling them.
Wear them in a solid colour. No patterns, no stripes, just solid colour or tonal. Not too wide in the leg – they’re riding pants afterall. Not too narrow either – otherwise you may as well wear a jodhpur. Just wide enough to create a flattering line. Narrow enough to avoid bulk at the lower leg. It’s a goldilocks thing – you need them just right.
Wear them as a fashion basic and consider them the equestrian equivalent of your little black dress.
You’ll find the perfect pair at Ride Proud – Bootlegs for Equestrians. The website is dedicated to offering this flattering alternative and we pride ourselves on offering personal service including 1:1 telephone consultations. I’m here to help you find the best fit and style suited to you.
And what to team them with?
Any damn thing you like in my opinion. It’s your horse, your ride and your style.
You’ll find some equally thought out riding shirts on the website. Again, they’re plain colours and loaded with features. We’ve got great riding shirts, but really, we’re all about the pants.

PS: This is, of course, my opinion only. (It's only one I can truly share with you). If you're a woman over 40 and don't fit the woman I've described, All the Power to You. If you're comfortable in joddies and you're rockin' them, I'm cheering for you.
Love the top, great service and even speedier than predicted
I’m 5’11” and finding nice riding shirts with long enough sleeves is not easy. I bought the Kaleidoscope button up and the Empress quarter zip and they both got great comments when I wore them! Even more importantly, *I* felt great in them! Thank you!
This is my second pair of the BEST riding pants! I love the fit and durable figure friendly material. I highly recommend.
The free gift did not arrive in the shipment but no matter! The pants are what I was looking forward to!
The comfort of the Gen 2 riding pants is tops compared to any other pant that I have ridden in. My lower back hurts me when I ride in jeans. With the Gen 2 pant there is no pressure. The cut of the suede seat is very flattering to a mature woman's shape and we can always use that. When wearing this outfit I feel put together, pretty, and ready for whatever the day will bring
Great service and nice to know I can swap clothes if I got size wrong.
Bought a gorgeous empress riding top. Its lovely and awesome service, thank you so much
My Riding Shirt in Empress is to dress for success!!!! Lots of “ohhhh where’d you get that?!!! Love it!!!” stateside. It fits beautifully, doesn’t cling on the back side, and I find I sit perhaps a bit taller in my saddle riding my fiery chestnut mare. Well done Ride Proud and, thank you!
I just bought my second pair of Legends. Not because my first pair is worn after two years of hard use, but because I want a second pant to change to for consecutive days of riding.
After such hard use the pant is as good as new except for the color in the places where the pant are touching saddle and horse and after countless times of being run in the washer.
The pant is very comfortable to wear both on the ground and in the saddle. And enough pockets to keep all the EDC items safe.
As a male rider there are not many good alternative's out there except for regular jeans, so this is what I recommend for all riders. And I regularly get compliments for having a good looking riding pants!
I just received this riding top. I have not had a chance to wear it yet, since it is too hot right now. I did try it on and it fits perfectly. The material is lightweight, but still very substantial and high quality. It looked amazing with black breeches and it will get a lot of use in the cooler months. I also bought one to gift to a friend who helps me groom at shows. It's a perfect one of kind gift.
As an English rider who does not like tall boots or even half chaps, I was thrilled to find Ride Proud pants, even if it meant shipping them from half way around the world (actually the shipping cost is super reasonable.) Kerrits and Irideon bootcuts are tight and the fabrics are thin, and to try to find any bootcut that doesn't have silicone is getting harder and harder to do. Enter Ride Proud. They have a substantial fabric weight, a suede full seat, and a generous inseam. Even better for my not-pear body type is that they fit in the waist as well as in the hips/thighs.
Customer service is phenomenal. This really is a business run by the owner.
My first purchase from Ride Proud didn't work out because the rise in the pants was too high. But some "mid-rise" offerings appeared, and they work great for me. Which brings me to two suggestions: since many of the styles of pants have nearly identical features, I'd love to see a chart developed for easy reference as to the differences. It would list features like fabric weight, pocket style, rise, fit (relaxed or slim), grip level, waistband style, etc., on one axis and the model of pant on the other axis, with checked boxes - or something that. The other suggestion would be to show an example of every color each pant comes in in the description, so there is no guesswork. These things would help customers to feel more confident in their purchases.
To sum up: Hallelujah for Ride Proud!
I loved this print but was worried how it would fit. You’re always taking a chance buying a new product online. Well, I wasn’t disappointed. This shirt is beautiful and the fit is perfect! I’m 5’4” and 130 lbs. and the medium was great! Not too big and not too tight! Everything about it was just right!
I spend a lot of time conditioning horses on trail. I love the full suede grip seat (super sticky for those unexpected spooks), the underfoot keeper keeps the pant leg from riding up and bunching at your knee, plenty of pockets, easy fasten at the waist band, and belt loops if you like riding with a belt. The pant withstands inevitable brush snags and do not tear like riding tights. They do stretch quite a bit with wear and I seem to be between sizes - the smaller size is a bit snug at waist and the next size up needs a belt to stay on. I’m an endurance rider and haven’t tried them on 25/50 miles yet, but I love them for conditioning rides!!

I admit this stunning print seduced me immediately upon seeing it in an Ad. The top is stunning, quality fabric, construction & zip. A classic easy wash & wear piece -all boxes ticked for me. I look forward to purchasing your trousers next! Just brilliant, highly recommended. Thank you

I have to say speedy to arrive and blown away to discover a free pair of socks. I am telling my friends these are the best - go shop!!!! This is where I choose to buy my riding gear. They have it nailed.
