Ride Proud exists for mature horsewomen who still love riding but no longer feel represented by mainstream equestrian clothing.
We design riding clothes around our changing bodies, our personal style and the way we actually live - so we can feel comfortable, confident and completely ourselves, in the saddle and beyond it.
The equestrian clothing industry has long celebrated youth, slender body ideals and performance.
But mature horsewomen are not past their prime.
We still love our horses.
We still want to feel beautiful, capable and visible.
And we still have ambition, experience, wisdom—and so much to contribute.
Our bodies change. That doesn’t make our bodies the problem.
It means the clothing needs to do a better job of considering them.
I’m cheering for any woman who gets on her horse feeling comfortable, confident and completely herself—whatever she chooses to wear.
I simply wanted women like me to have another option too.
When I started Ride Proud, I thought I was solving a fairly practical problem.
I couldn’t find riding clothes that gave me the function I needed without making me feel as though I had to dress like someone else.
Traditional riding clothes didn’t feel like me. Ordinary jeans felt familiar, but they hadn’t been designed for riding.
So I began creating the option I wished existed: comfortable, functional riding clothes with the familiar style I still wanted to wear.
What began with a pair of bootcut riding pants gradually became something much bigger.
I realised I wasn’t the only woman who had felt overlooked.
Every Ride Proud design begins with the woman who will wear it.
How will it feel on her body?
Can she move freely?
Will she feel supported without feeling restricted?
And, just as importantly, will she feel like herself?
That thinking appears in the thoughtful shaping, breathable stretch fabrics, useful pockets, comfortable waistbands and riding-specific details.
It also appears in clothing that still makes sense when the ride is over - whether she is caring for her horse, meeting friends or heading into town.
We use quality fabrics and thoughtful construction because these clothes are made to be worn, ridden in and relied upon.
Comfort matters. Function matters. But neither should require a woman to surrender her personal style.
Customers tell me about the comfort, the pockets and how secure they feel in the saddle. I love hearing all of it.
But the words I never forget are:
“Thank you for making clothes for us.”
And:
“I feel like a princess.”
Because those words tell me something far more important than whether a waistband behaved itself.
They tell me she felt seen.
She felt considered.
She felt good in herself.
And she knew someone still believed she was worth designing for.
That is why Ride Proud exists.
Ride Proud is a 100% Australian-owned family business, founded in Queensland by horsewoman Colleen Jackson.
What began from my own experience has grown into a community of women around the world who are riding, participating and proudly doing things their own way.
We are not here to tell any woman what a rider should look like.
We are here to give her another option - and to remind her that she belongs exactly as she is.
We see you.
We designed this for you.
And some of your most rewarding years in the saddle may still be ahead of you.
Always Ride Proud.
EXPLORE THE COLLECTIONRide Proud has been shaped by far more than clothing. It has been shaped by my horses, the women around me, the lessons I’ve learned in and out of the saddle - and my belief that there is no single right way to be a horsewoman.
These short videos share more of that story: what I believe, what has shaped me and the thinking behind Ride Proud.
